Professional Portfolio
Early Childhood Educator — Quebec City, QC
Over 3,500 hours of experience with children aged 6 months to 6 years.
Passionate about children's holistic development, I create safe, stimulating and caring environments that nurture their autonomy, growth and well-being.
I am Abir Zouaki, an early childhood educator holding an AEC (college diploma) in Early Childhood Education Techniques from Cégep de Sainte-Foy. With over 3,500 hours of experience with children aged 6 months to 6 years, I have developed an educational approach rooted in observation, kindness, adaptability, and respect for each child's individual pace.
My experience has allowed me to work with different age groups as well as with children who need more personalized support. I pay particular attention to creating a safe environment where every child can build autonomy, confidence and skills through play, routines and educational experiences.
Communication and collaboration with parents also play an important role in my work: I believe that continuity between home and the childcare setting supports every child's well-being and development.

2024 – 2025Some children need more time, structure or adaptations to fully take part in group life. My role as an educator is to observe, adapt and collaborate to support their development — always in complement to the relevant professionals involved.
I adjust instructions, materials, duration, difficulty level, environment and pacing so that every child can take part in free play, guided activities, routines and group activities.
I support children in managing their emotions and stimulation levels, drawing on the strategies and recommendations in place in the setting.
I support transitions using visual supports and pictograms inspired by strategies used in the setting, making them predictable and reducing anxiety.
I encourage taking turns, sharing, mutual support and positive interactions to help every child feel integrated within the group.
Observation is at the heart of my work: it helps me better understand each child's needs, possible triggers and progress.
In collaboration with the team and the people responsible, I contribute to observation, the implementation of agreed-upon strategies, and progress tracking.
I create and adapt materials that promote each child's autonomy and participation.
I collaborate with families, my colleagues and, when needed, the professionals supporting the child (occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, psychoeducators, etc.) to ensure continuity of care.
My role remains that of an educator: I observe, adapt and apply educational strategies in collaboration with the team and relevant professionals. I do not make diagnoses and do not replace clinical or therapeutic interventions.
Building a relationship grounded in trust, listening, safety and respect.
Observing before intervening to better understand each child's needs, interests, developmental level and progress.
Every child learns and develops at their own pace.
Letting children try, participate, make choices and build their confidence.
Play as an essential tool for discovery, learning, development, communication and socialization.
Adapting the environment and activities so every child can participate to the best of their abilities.
Alongside my early childhood career, my customer service experience helped me develop strong listening, adaptability and communication skills — skills I use daily in my interactions with children, families and colleagues.
This complementary experience strengthened my professionalism, patience and ability to handle delicate situations with composure and tact, while building trusting relationships with people from all walks of life.
French and English allow me to communicate easily with families and educational teams.
